Carlos CarboneroColombia boss Jose Pekerman has added Estudiantes midfielder Carlos Carbonero to his World Cup squad as Aldo Ramirez was ruled out through injury.

Ramirez was named in the final 23-man squad, but the Argentine coach was forced to call a replacement as the midfielder has failed to recover from a knee problem.

And he has surprised everyone by opting for Estudiantes winger Carlos Carbonero, who earned his first and only cap so far in the friendly against Ecuador back in March 2011.

Nobody can say the 23-year-old did not deserve a place in the final squad, having enjoyed a stunning second part of the season while on loan at River Plate.

Carbonero helped the Argentine giants clinch the Clausura title by scoring 6 goals and producing 5 assists in 18 league outings.

Colombia will also be without star forward Radamel Falcao, who has failed to recover from a knee injury, but they, nonetheless, remain 2.00 (1/1) favourites to win Group C.

Colombia start their campaign by playing Greece on 14th June before facing Ivory Coast and Japan on 19th and 24th June respectively.
