France vs Honduras

The World Cup quarter finals kick off in Rio De Janiero on Saturday as 1998 winners France take on Germany, who have lifted the trophy on three occasions.

Didier Deschamps’ side booked their place in the last eight by beating Nigeria 2-0 in the round of sixteen in Brasilia on Monday while they took seven points from nine in the group stages to finish above Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras.

Mamadou Sakho is the only injury concern for the French ahead of the game, so Deschamps may stick with the same side that started last time out, with Laurent Koscielny set to continue deputising at centre-back alongside Raphael Varane.

Karim Benzema, who has three goals at the tournament so far, is widely available at 7.0 (6/1) to get the first goal of the game, with Paul Pogba generously priced at 17.0 (16/1) with Bet 365.

France are 3.3 (23/10) with Coral to win the game in ninety minutes, with Germany favourites at 2.5 (6/4) with a variety of firms. The draw can be easily found at 3.3 (23/10).

Germany needed extra time to get past Algeria in Porto Alegre earlier in the week, while like their opponents they also dropped just two points in the group stage having beaten Portugal and the USA either side of a 2-2 draw with Ghana.

Manager Joachim Low will be without Shkodran Mustafi, who has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament with a hamstring injury while Lukas Podolski and Mats Hummels should be fit in time to feature having missed the round of sixteen tie through injury and illness respectively.

Top scorer Thomas Muller is favourite to open the scoring, with Bet Victor offering odds of 6.5 (11/2) while Miroslav Klose is a 7.0 (6/1) chance with the same firm to do so with a goal which would see him become the outright top scorer in World Cup finals history.

This will be the first ever competitive meeting between the sides, though Germany ran out winners the last time they faced each other in a friendly.

Five of the eight fixtures in the last round went to extra time, with three of those games ending goalless after ninety minute so you may be tempted to back the 0-0 draw at 9.0 (8/1) with Coral.
