Japan vs Colombia

Saturday’s World Cup action concludes in Rio De Janeiro where Colombia take on Uruguay in the second match from the round of sixteen, with the winners of Brazil vs. Chile awaiting in the victors in the quarter finals.

Wins in all three of their first stage matches, against Greece, Ivory Coast and Japan, saw Colombia top Group C, while their only defeat in their last fifteen internationals came at the hands of Uruguay in qualifying for this summer’s tournament in Brazil.

With their progress already secured, Coach Jose Pekerman rested a number of his star players for the win against Japan and while James Rodriguez, Mario Yepes and Carlos Carbenero are set to be recalled, Jackson Martinez may keep his place after his brace in Cuiaba.

The Porto forward is widely available at 6.5 (11/2) to get the first goal of the game, while James Rodriguez, who has three goals in three outings in Brazil so far, is a 7.5 (13/2) shot with Bet Victor.

Colombia are favourites to win the match in ninety minutes, with Bet Victor offering a price of 2.05 (21/20), while Uruguay are as highly priced as the 4.2 (16/5) on offer from Bet 365, who have the draw at 3.5 (5/2).

Uruguay secured their place in the last sixteen with victory over Italy in their final group game in Natal on Tuesday, with Diego Godin scoring the only goal of the game.

Diego Lugano is Oscar Tabarez’s only injury concern, though he will also be without striker Luis Suarez who has been retrospectively suspended following a clash with Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini last time out.

Diego Forlan, who is set to replace Suarez, is priced at 10.0 (9/1) with Bet 365 to open the scoring, with Edinson Cavani an 8.5 (17/2) chance with the same firm.

Six of the last nine meetings between the sides have seen four or more goals, so you may be tempted to take advantage of Betfair’s offer of 4.5 (7/2) that there will be over 3.5 this time around.

Alternatively, with Uruguay unable to call upon their star striker, you may favour Betfred’s offer of 3.2 (11/5) for Colombia to win to nil.
