Porto vs Zenit preview

Porto need to win their final group game in order to qualify for the knockout stages, whereas Zenit can go through even with one point from Dragao Stadium.

After several very successful years on both domestic and European stage, Porto’s glory is slowly fading away.

With both Benfica and Sporting Lisbon playing beautiful football this team, the Dragons are no longer the dominant force in Portugal, whereas the team are also on the brink of European elimination.

Vitor Pereira’s side managed to keep their qualifying hopes alive with a victory in Donetsk, but they now need another triumph to secure their place in the next stage. However, at 1.73 (8/11) the Dragons are just not worth backing here.

The hosts will have Eliaquim Mangala back to the side after the centre-back recovered from injury, but Cristian Rodriguez remains a doubt.

Important midfielder Fredy Guarin is still sidelined, as are Alex Sandro and Juan Manuel Iturbe.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Helton – Maicon, Otamendi, Rolando, Pereira – Defour, Fernando, Moutinho – Rodriguez, Kleber, Hulk.

Unlike Porto, the Russian champions are still going strong and they are set to make this one of the most successful seasons in recent history.

Zenit currently sit at the Russian Premier League summit, six points clear of their nearest rivals, so they are hot favourites to defend the league title this season.

The first part of their domestic season ended some ten days ago, but the team have been training in Portugal for almost a week, trying to fully prepare for the most important game of the year.

The Russians enter the game in great spirits, having gone unbeaten for 14 successive games and knowing that they only need one point to go through, you should know Zenit are no less than 2.20 (6/5) with Stan James not to lose in Portugal.

With Alexander Kerzhakov still sidelined with injury, Luciano Spalletti is expected to field the same side that beat Lokomotiv at the weekend.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-2-1): Malafeyev – Anyukov, Hubocan, Lombaerts, Criscito – Denisov, Zyryanov, Shirokov – Danny, Faizulin – Bukharov.
