Monaco vs JuventusIn spite of the 1-0 defeat in the first match, Monaco have reason for optimism ahead of the clash at Stade Louis II, having matched their more illustrious opponents for large periods of the game in Turin.

Arturo Vidal’s penalty goal gave the Bianconeri the upper hand of the tie and they will be confident of finishing the job in the Principality.

It would be fair to say that nobody expected Monaco to get past the group stage let alone reach the final stages of the Champions League, but nobody can say Leonardo Jardim’s side do not deserve to be here.

Following the impressive triumph over Arsenal in the first knockout stage, the Principality club caused Serie A champions Juventus all sorts of problems in the first leg of the quarter-final tie.

Monaco missed a couple of good chances to score either side of the penalty goal by Arturo Vidal and they can definitely take some heart from that performance.

The Principality club were unable to defeat Rennes at the weekend as Leonardo Jardim rested several star players, but they can be backed at 3.40 (12/5) to defeat Juventus on Wednesday.

The coach has received a welcoming boost as important midfielder Jeremy Toulalan resumed training from a thigh injury and he should be fit to start.

Geoffrey Kondogbia and Nabil Dirar are also in contention, while Lacina Traore is nearing on his return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Subasic – Fabinho, Carvalho, Abdennour, Kurzawa – Toulalan, Kondogbia – Dirar, Moutinho, Ferreira-Carrasco – Berbatov.

Italian giants Juventus have all but secured the fourth successive Serie A title, but the Bianconeri have a chance to add two more major trophies to the league accolade.

The Old Lady will be vying Lazio for the Coppa Italia trophy, but the most important thing is they are finally in a position to go all the way in the Champions League.

The road to the quarter-final was by no means easy, but a hard-fought win over Monaco hold them in a good stead ahead of the return match.

And seeing as how Juventus are one of world’s leading sides when it comes to result-oriented football, nobody is surprised they are 2.40 (7/5) to win at Stade Louis II.

Max Allegri is sweating over the fitness of key midfielder Arturo Vidal, who missed training on Monday due to tonsillitis.

And chances are that the former AC Milan coach is set to revert to a 3-5-2 formation, with Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata up front.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Buffon – Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini – Lichtsteiner, Marchisio, Pirlo, Pereyra, Evra – Tevez, Morata.
