Marseille vs Inter preview

Both Marseille and Inter are experiencing unexpected difficulties in their respective league championships, and the two sides hope that Champions League success can help them return to the right track.

The French giants had major problems at the start to the season on domestic stage, but they did well to win their first two group games.

OM then improved their league form but picked up just one point from next three Champions League games, and they were on the brink of elimination before the final game in Dortmund.

Nevertheless, Marseille came from two goals behind to record a stunning 3-2 victory that saw them squeeze into the Champions League knockout stages and the team have been playing great football ever since.

The French giants are unbeaten in last 15 games in all competitions, and odds of 2.25 (5/4) offered on home win at Paddy Power do look tempting.

Loic Remy and Andre-Pierre Gignac miss out through injury, but Alou Diarra and Stephane Mbia could return after recovering from injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Mandanda – Azpilicueta, Diawara, N’Koulou, Morel – Amalfitano, Diarra, Cheyrou – Valbuena, Brandao, A.Ayew.

Inter appeared to have sorted all their problems after they recorded eight straight victories on domestic stage, but the good atmosphere at Giuseppe Meazza was short lived.

The Neroazzurri went on to lose five of their next six games, sharing spoils only with Palermo at home.

The 4-0 defeat to Roma and home losses to Novara and Bologna acted as major blows to the players’ confidence, so nobody knows whether the team will be able to recover from such disappointing results.

Having been far from impressive in the Champions League group stage as well, odds of 1.62 (5/8) offered by 188BET on Inter to qualify do not represent a good value.

Diego Forlan has been added to Inter’s Champions League squad after being ineligible for the group stage, but Fredy Guarin is not available for the competition.

Walter Samuel is back in contention after recovering from injury, but Ricardo Alvarez, Luc Castaignos and Ivan Cordoba are not included.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Julio Cesar – Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Nagatomo – Zanetti, Stankovic, Cambiasso – Sneijder – Milito, Pazzini.
