Marseille eliminated Inter to reach the Champions League quarter-finals, but the French giants are likely to face even tougher task against high-flying Bayern Munich.

OM were seen as one of the main candidates for the league title following the heavy summer spending, whereas they were not expected to go far in Europe, having been drawn alongside Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Olympiakos.

Nevertheless, Marseille not only qualified for the Champions League knockout stages, but eliminated Inter in the first knockout round, thus proving they have enough quality to match the best sides in Europe.

On the other hand, Didier Deschamps’ men largely disappointed on domestic stage, and they are already out of contention for European places.

OM ended the seven-match losing run in all competitions as they shared spoils with Nice at the weekend, but odds of 4.80 (19/5) offered on home win by BetVictor show that online bookmakers do not trust the French side to win this game.

Keeper Steve Mandanda and defender Souleymane Diawara are both banned, whereas Loic Remy is doubtful with a thigh problem.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Andrade – Azpilicueta, Fanni, N’Koulou, Morel – M’Bia, Cheyrou – Amalfitano, Valbuena, A. Ayew – Remy.

Bayern Munich look set to miss out on yet another Bundesliga title seeing they are now five points adrift of arch rivals Borussia Dortmund, but the Bavarians are determined to battle for the Champions League trophy.

The 7-1 aggregate win over Basel in the first knockout round can be seen as a real sign of ambition and while Jupp Heynckes’ side are bound to face a tougher task against Marseille, they have got to be considered favourites to go through.

After winning their last five games in all competitions, scoring 22 goals in the process, Bayern look a good bet to beat struggling Marseille at odds of 1.91 (10/11) offered by Paddy Power.

Taking into account the Bavarians have kept four clean sheets in last six away games, so odds of 2.40 (7/5) offered by 888sport on Bayern not to concede could be worth a shot.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is set to miss out after a recurrence of his ankle injury, whereas Daniel van Buyten and Breno remain long-term worries.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Neuer – Lahm, Boateng, Badstuber, Alaba – Kroos, Gustavo – Robben, Muller, Ribery – Gomez.
