Inter vs Lille preview

Inter were very lucky to win the first game between the two teams, seeing that Lille had largely dominated the proceedings, but with both sides still very much in the race for top two places, we should see a very interesting clash at Giuseppe Meazza.

The Neroazzurri have been terribly disappointing this season, with coach Gian Piero Gasperini getting the boot after just five competitive games.

It looked as though the team were set to return to the right track after new boss Claudio Ranieri masterminded victories over Bologna and CSKA Moscow, but the Neroazzurri soon returned to the losing ways.

Inter somewhat made amends for the disappointing results in Serie A by winning their Champions League tie against Lille, despite having just 5 shots on goal as opposed to Lille’s 17.

Claudio Ranieri’s side will have to show a big improvement if they want to win this game, especially after losing Derby d’Italia to Juventus, so odds of 2.05 (21/20) offered by Victor Chandler on home win do not represent a real value for money.

Maicon has been ruled out of this clash after suffering a thigh injury against Juventus, whereas Julio Cesar and Diego Forlan remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Castellazzi – Zanetti, Lucio, Samuel, Nagatomo – Stankovic, Cambiasso, Obi – Sneijder – Pazzini, Zarate.

Reigning Ligue 1 champions have had some problems at the start to the season, which was not that surprising seeing that the squad had suffered big changes in the summer.

However, les Dogues have shown a massive improvement over the last few weeks, having recorded four comfortable wins in last six games, while they were very unlucky not to have beaten Inter as well.

The team played really well in all three Champions League games, but were unable to hold on to the leads against CSKA and Trabzonspor, while losing to Inter, meaning that this is a must-win game for them if they want to stay in contention for a place in the next round.

Given that Lille largely outplayed Inter in France and that the Neroazzurri are far from the desired form, odds of 4.33 (10/3) offered by Ladbrokes on away win do look tempting.

Battling midfielder Florent Balmont is sidelined through injury, whereas Marko Basa and Aurelien Chedjou are both injury doubts.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Landreau – Debuchy, Rozenhal, Chedjou, Beria – Pedretti, Mavuba, Gueye – Cole, Sow, Hazard.
