Barcelona vs AjaxHaving given a good account of themselves at Camp Nou, Ajax will attempt to take advantage of Barcelona’s poor form and get back into contention for a place in the knockout stages.

Meanwhile, the Catalans need to show a response to back to back defeats to Real and Celta, and they will be looking to win in style at Amsterdam ArenA.

This is the second successive time Ajax have been placed in the same CL group as Barcelona, and it is important to note the Amsterdammers won the same fixture last term.

They need to repeat the feat if they are to have any chance of qualifying for the knockout stages, and this is clearly a good time to be facing the Catalans.

While their more illustrious opponents are going through a rough patch, Ajax seem to have stabilised their form, winning last three matches in style.

Weekend’s 4-0 triumph over Dodrecht is enough to suggest Frank de Boer’s charges are in a very good form at the moment, which gives them reason for optimism.

And with Ajax winning last year’s clash at Amsterdam ArenA, you should know that home win is available at 10.00 (9/1) at SkyBet.

There have been no fresh injury worries for Frank de Boer, although Victor Fischer continues to miss out through a hamstring problem.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Cillessen – van Rhijn, Moisander, Veltman, Boilesen – Klaasen, Zimling, Andersen – El Ghazi, Sigthorsson, Schone.

Barcelona enjoyed a pretty impressive start to the new season, doing well on all fronts, but they have now faced the first setbacks of the campaign.

The Catalans were first completely outclassed by bitter rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico before failing to turn their dominance into goals as they lost at home to Celta Vigo.

The two defeats shouldn’t prove too costly if Barcelona instantly return to winning ways, and while the outcome of the Ajax game will not have such a big effect on their Champions League campaign, a morale-boosting win is a must at this point in time.

And having lost at Amsterdam ArenA last time out, the Catalans are 1.40 (2/5) to make things right on Wednesday evening.

Luis Enrique will have Gerard Pique, Martin Montoya and Douglas back to the side, but Jeremy Mathieu and Sergi Roberto have failed to make the trip.

The boss is likely to make changes to his starting line-up, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Xavi pushing for starting places.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): ter Stegen – Alves, Mascherano, Pique, Alba – Rakitic, Busquets, Xavi – Suarez, Messi, Neymar.
