Barca vs EspanyolEven if neither team have much to play for at the moment, the latest edition of Derbi barceloni is likely to produce a lot of fireworks.

Espanyol go into the game in poor spirits having lost all chances to secure Europa League qualification, but they still have every reason to be satisfied with how this season has panned out.

Throughout the first part of the season, los Periquitos were largely struggling to escape the danger zone and at one point it looked as though they are the main candidates for the drop.

However, then came Javier Aguirre and Espanyol started climbing the league standings in no time, with the team now sitting safely tucked away in mid table.

They have suffered a small dip in form, picking up just one point from last four league fixtures, and the hosts now face another mountain to climb.

Espanyol players are, nonetheless, very motivated to surprise their bitter rivals and they are 5.75 (19/4) with BetVictor to defeat Barcelona.

While Hector Moreno and Christian Stuani are doubtful through injury, Sergio Tejera is suspended and Victor Alvarez is out with a heart condition.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): C. Alvarez – Javi Lopez, Raul, Colotto, Capdevilla – Forlin, Victor Sanchez – Simao, Verdu, Mubarak – Sergio Garcia.

Barcelona may have reclaimed the La Liga title this season, but the Catalans have failed to live up to expectations in other competitions.

While being defeated to Real Madrid in Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey, Tito Vilanova’s side were hammered by Bayern in the Champions League semi-finals.

The team have showed a lot of character after the 7-0 aggregate defeat, winning all three La Liga fixtures, meaning they are still in with a chance of reaching the 100-point mark.

After seeing off Real Betis, Atletico Madrid and Real Valladolid, the Catalans are 1.62 (5/8) with Stan James to make it four on the trot.

Tito Vilanova is expected to field his strongest side in Derbi barceloni, although Argentine superstar Leo Messi continues to miss out.

Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal are also out, but Dani Alves, Adriano Correia and Gerard Pique all return to the side.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Valdes – Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Alba – Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta – Pedro, Fabregas, Villa.
