Barcelona’s defensive crisis has just gotten worse as it has been revealed that Dani Alves could miss up to three weeks with a thigh injury.

The highly-rated full-back was forced to come off in the first half of the La Liga draw with Real Madrid after damaging a thigh muscle.

Barcelona have since announced on their official website that the tests have discovered a grade one tear to his left thigh muscle.

The player was, therefore, forced to withdraw from Brazil squad for friendlies against Iraq and Japan.

Alves is also expected to miss La Liga fixtures against Deportivo La Coruna and Rayo Vallecano, as well as the Champions League clash with Celtic.

With Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique also sidelined through injury, Barcelona are set to face several difficult weeks, but there will be more than enough time for the Catalans to return to the right track once the injured players return into action.

With that in mind, odds of 3.45 (49/20) offered at Betfair on Barcelona to win the Champions League trophy could be worth a shot.
