Athletic vs Real SociedadStruggling Athletic Bilbao hope a win in Euskal Derbia will help them kick-start their season, while Real Sociedad aim to end a 12-year wait for a win at San Mames.

This season is turning out to be a major disappointment for Athletic Bilbao, who now sit just six points clear of the relegation zone.

In all fariness, los Leones were far from impressive in last year’s league campaign, but they were then cruising in Europa League and Copa del Rey.

They have already been eliminated from the two competitions this term and the only thing left now is to try and save their pride and at least improve their league position until the end of the season.

Derby win over Real Sociedad would certainly be a perfect tonic after back to back defeats to Espanyol and Malaga, so bear in mind home win pays 2.25 (5/4) at bet365.

Fernando Llorente and Oscar De Marcos are both injury doubts, but Iker Muniain, Carlos Gurpegui, Borja Ekiza and Fernando Amorebieta are definitely out.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3-): Raul – Iraola, San Jose, Laporte, Aurtenetxe – De Marcos, Iturraspe, Herrera – Susaeta, Aduriz, Ibai.

Unlike their bitter rivals, Real Sociedad are enjoying one of their best seasons in club’s recent history.

Los Txuri-urdin may have been eliminated from Copa del Rey by Cordoba, but that proved to be a blessing in disguise as the team were then able to fully focus on their league campaign.

As a result, Philippe Montanier’s side only lost once match since November, with six-match unbeaten run helping them climb to sixth place in the overall standings.

The team now sit in Europa League places and European qualification would definitely be a just reward for their performances this season.

Real Sociedad are without a win at San Mames for over 12 years, and they are 3.40 (12/5) with Stan James to end the long drought.

With no fresh injury worries to report, boss Philippe Montanier is set to field an unchanged line-up to that which were held to 1-1 draw by Levante.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Bravo – C. Martinez, Mikel, I. Martinez, De La Bella – Illarramendi, Bergara – Griezmann, Prieto, Castro – Vela.
