Almeria vs Elche preview

Almeria vs ElcheNewly promoted sides meet at Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos following an indifferent start to the La Liga campaign, with both Almeria and Elche looking for the first triumph of the season.

Almeria needed just two years to return to the elite division having suffered relegation in 2011, but they don’t seem to be prepared well for the La Liga campaign.

While the club did sign quite a few new players, there were next to none high-profile arrivals, with Suso, Torsiglieri and Rodri the only notable signings.

Almeria, nonetheless, produced a decent display in their opening match against Villarreal, but were very unfortunate to lose the game 3-2.

The team have since showed improvement to bring one point from the away match against Getafe, although they again had something to regret, having twice taken the lead.

Almeria are now hoping to finally record their first La Liga victory, and they are priced at 2.15 (23/20) by William Hill.

Helder Barbosa have joined the club on loan from Sporting Braga, but Marcos Torsiglieri continues to miss out.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Esteban – Rafita, Trujillo, Pellerano, Dubarbier – Tebar, Verza – Vidal, Soriano, Suso – Rodri.

Elche made its way back to the top flight after 24 years via play-offs, but having finally gained promotion, the club did everything they could to seriously reinforce the squad this summer.

Despite operating on a tight budget, los Franjiverdes managed to sign a number of quality players on loan deals and free transfers, so no doubt they are going to put up a serious fight this season.

In came Manu del Moral, Cisma, Botia, Sapunaru and Boakye, among others, but it is clear the team will need some time to gel.

Elche have shown some improvement following the opening 3-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano, holding Real Sociedad to a 1-1 draw at home, but they need to start winning soon if they want to avoid slipping into the danger zone.

The match against Almeria could be a perfect opportunity for the first triumph, with away win paying 3.90 (29/10) at BetVictor.

Damian Suarez remains suspended, but there are no other selection worries for boss Fran Escriba ahead of the trip to Almeria.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Herrera – Sapunaru, Lomban, Botia, Albacar – Coro, Perez, Sanchez – Gil, Manu, Fidel.
