Roma vs Milan preview

Both Roma and Milan will see this match as an opportunity to close the gap behind their top 3 rivals, and with neither team currently in the European places, a stalemate is just out of the question.

Roma officials may have done well to heavily reinforce the squad over the summer, but the team needed a lot of time to hit the ground running.

However, just as everybody was starting to write them off, the Giallorossi recorded five straight Serie A victories, thus effectively returning to the race for Champions League places.

They then suffered a narrow defeat to Chievo to end the impressive run of results, and now hope to return to winning ways against Milan.

Taking into account four straight home victories, Roma look an attractive bet to win this game at odds of 2.38 (11/8) offered at BetFred.

The Giallorossi currently sit four points behind third-placed Lazio and are 5.00 (4/1) with bet635 to finish in top 3.

Roma boss will have to make do without suspended Leandro Castan and injured Taddei and Marquinho.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Goicoechea – Piris, Burdisso, Marquinhos, Balzaretti – Pjanic, De Rossi, Florenzi – Lamela, Osvaldo, Totti.

Milan, too, had a slow start to the season, but for completely different reasons than their next opponents.

Max Allegri’s side largely struggled following the numerous departures in the summer, but they, nonetheless, managed to find their form midway through November.

Since losing at home to Fiorentina, the Rossoneri have shared spoils with Napoli and San Paolo and won last four games, beating leaders Juventus in the process.

Such a good run has seen Milan climb to seventh in the overall standings, and a victory over Roma would be an icing on the cake.

Given that the Rossoneri have won their last two away games, you should know they are 2.88 (17/9) with BetVictor to triumph at Olimpico.

Young Stephan El Shaarawy, who scored 14 goals in 17 league games this term, is 2.50 (3/2) with SkyBet to score at any time.

Daniele Bonera is likely to return to the starting line-up, but Nigel de Jong, Alexandre Pato and Didac Vila remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Amelia – Abate, Mexes, Bonera, De Sciglio – Montolivo, Ambrosini, Nocerino – Boateng – Robinho, El Shaarawy.
