Juventus vs Lazio preview

Lazio vs JuventusThe two giants of Italian football meet again just two weeks after Juventus recorded a 4-0 victory in the Italian Super Cup match, and chances are we are going to see a much closer encounter this time out.

The Bianconeri go into the new season hoping to lift the third successive Serie A title as well as further improve their reputation in Europe.

Last year’s 4-0 aggregate defeat to Bayern made club chiefs even more determined to reinforce the squad over the summer, with Carlos Tevez, Fernando Llorente and Angelo Ogbonna all added to the squad.

Having also kept hold of all key players from last season, Juventus enjoyed a brilliant start to the new campaign, hammering Lazio in the Italian Super Cup match.

The Bianconeri then started their league campaign with a 1-0 away win over Sampdoria, so no wonder they are just 1.40 (2/5) at Coral to continue their winning run.

Having scored against both Lazio and Sampdoria, summer signing Carlos Tevez is 2.00 (1/1) with Betfred to make it three in a row.

With Claudio Marchisio the only unavailable player at the moment, Antonio Conte is set to stick to the same side that defeated Sampdoria last weekend.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Buffon – Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini – Lichtsteiner, Pogba, Pirlo, Vidal, Asamoah – Vucinic, Tevez.

Last season was far from impressive for Lazio, who finished the league campaign in seventh place, while also failing to reach the closing stages of Europa League.

However, the Coppa Italia success helped the Biancocelesti save their season and gave them something to build on ahead of the 2013/2014 campaign.

Club officials were pretty busy during the summer transfer window, but they eventually only managed to sign Lucas Biglia, Diego Novaretti and Felipe Anderson, although it is possible one more player will arrive in last-minute deal.

The embarrassing defeat to Juventus, however, proved they are no closer to matching Italy’s top sides, although the match in Turin is a perfect opportunity to prove the doubters wrong.

Having defeated Udinese at the start of the league campaign, BetVictor has Lazio at 10.5 (19/2) to produce an upset and win in Turin.

Captain Stefano Mauri continues to serve his suspension, while Felipe Anderson and Abdoulay Konko are out injured and Lorik Cana is doubtful.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-4-1): Marchetti – Cavanda, Biava, Dias, Radu – Biglia – Candreva, Hernanes, Gonzalez, Lulic – Klose.
