Catania vs Lazio preview

Having done well to end the poor run of results with an entertaining draw at Udinese, Catania now hope to return to winning ways at their Stadio Angelo Massimino.

Lazio could only muster a 1-1 draw at home with Torino, meaning the Bianconeri are looking for a win that would help them stay close to the top 3 sides.

Many expected Catania to experience major problems after talented manager Vincenzo Montella left the club during off-season, but new boss Rolando Maran is doing really well at the moment.

The Elephants had enjoyed a bright start to the league campaign, taking 8 points from first 5 games, although they did suffer a small dip in form of late.

Catania lost three of next four matches, so they were very motivated to turn things around in midweek match with Udinese.

Rolando Maran’s side were denied a win at Friuli as Toto Di Natale scored an equalizer deep into injury time, but the good showing against the Zebrette should keep them in good stead for the Lazio clash.

After taking 10 points from first 5 home games, Catania are 2.50 (3/2) with 888sport to emerge triumphant from this match.

Nicola Legrottaglie and Giovanni Marchese return to the side, but Pablo Barrientos is doubtful with an ankle problem.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Andujar – Rolin, Legrottaglie, Spolli – Izco, Almiron, Lodi, Barrientos, Marchese – Bergessio, Gomez.

Lazio continue to exceed expectations this season and they look like genuine top 3 contenders at the moment.

The Biancocelesti are playing in series this term, with winning and winless runs following each other, but that is not proving to be a problem.

After the five-match winning run was followed by three games without a win, Lazio went on to record another four wins on the bounce, but has since been on the downtrend.

The last-gasp equalizer they conceded against Panathinaikos seems to have had a negative effect on the team as the Biancocelesti were then beaten by Fiorentina before playing out a 1-1 draw with Torino.

Time has now come for Lazio to return to winning ways, but odds of 3.10 (21/10) offered at William Hill on away win show that they will not have an easy job at Stadio Angelo Massimino.

Hernanes and Ledesma return to the side after they were rested in midweek, but Miroslav Klose is suspended.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-4-1): Bizzarri – Konko, Biava, Dias, Lulic – Ledesma – Candreva, Gonzalez, Hernanes, Mauri – Floccari.
