Bologna vs Fiorentina preview

Fiorentina vs BolognaThis is a rescheduled match from Sunday that was called off due to heavy snow at Renato Dall’Ara, meaning both Bologna and Fiorentina had two extra days to prepare for this very important clash.

In spite of some very good showings after the winter break, Bologna were unable to break away from the danger zone and they now sit five points above the bottom three.

Nevertheless, after the three sides currently sitting in the relegation zone picked up just one point between them at the weekend, il Felsinei have got a very good chance to significantly boost their survival hopes.

With Fiorentina missing several very important players, there may be some value in backing Bologna at odds of 3.20 (11/5) offered at Paddy Power.

The problem is il Felsinei have won just one of their last five home fixtures in Serie A, sharing spoils with Roma and Siena in their last two.

Coach Stefano Pioli is set to revert to a four-man defence, even if Frederik Sorensen is doubtful with a muscle problem.

Saphir Taider returns to the side, but defenders Cesare Natali and Gyorgy Garics continue to miss out through injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Curci – Motta, Antonsson, Cherubin, Morleo – Taider, Perez, Kone – Diamanti – Gilardino, Gabbiadini.

Following a very good start to the league campaign, Fiorentina suffered a huge dip in form right after the winter break, but the team appear to be slowly returning to the right track.

Viola may have lost the derby game to Juventus in Turin, but comfortable home wins against Parma and Inter certainly acted as a big confidence boost.

The team are now looking to improve their away form, having lost last three fixtures on the road, although there are not too many teams in Serie A that would take points from games at Friuli, Angelo Massimino and Juventus Arena.

In spite of the poor form of the travels and some selection problems, Vincenzo Montella’s side are 2.30 (13/10) favourites at 888sport to win at Renato Dall’Ara.

Deep-lying playmaker David Pizarro misses out through suspension, while Facundo Roncaglia, Matias Fernandez, Michele Camporese, Giuseppe Rossi and Ahmed Hegazy are out injured.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Viviano – Tomovic, Rodriguez, Savic, Pasqual – Aquilani, Sissoko, Borja Valero – Cuadrado, Jovetic, Ljajic.
