Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is reportedly eyeing up a reunion with defender Marcos Alonso in January.

According to CalcioMercato, the Nerazzurri are interested in swooping for the Chelsea defender and could make a move as early as January, with the Spaniard dropping down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

He has made only seven Premier League appearances this campaign, having not played a single minute since a the 4-2 victory against Burnley at the back end of October.

The left-back previously found his best form at Chelsea under Italian boss Conte. Playing 64 Premier League matches, he managed to score 13 goals from the left wingback position and was a key player as the Blues lifted the league title in the 2016/17 season and the FA Cup the following campaign.

Should Alonso complete a switch to Inter Milan, it would signal a return to Serie A. He previously found success with Italian outfit Fiorentina, making 85 appearances for the club.

Alonso would also bolster an already impressive Inter Milan side that have enjoyed a highly impressive first half of the season. After 15 matches, Conte’s troops have won 12, leaving them at the top of the Serie A table and two points clear of reigning champions Juventus.

They currently sit at 2/1 with Betfair to win the league come the end of the campaign.
