Wolfsburg vs SchalkeBoth sides are looking to make amends for the slow start to the season, with Wolfsburg losing away at Hannover and Schalke only mustering a 3-3 draw with Hamburg.

Many expect this to be a breakthrough season for the Wolves after the team showed a great deal of improvement in the second part of last season.

The team have progressed a great deal since Dieter Hecking took over the reigns from Felix Magath, having gone unbeaten in last 10 fixtures of the previous league campaign.

Rather than recruiting heavily in the summer, the club officials made just a few signings, as Timm Klose, Daniel Caliguri and Koo Ja-Cheol were added to the ranks.

With all key men remaining, Wolfsburg were pretty convincing in pre-season and they started the new campaign with 3-1 triumph over Karlsruher in the DFB Pokal, but they were then defeated by Hannover at the start of Bundesliga.

The Wolves had two men sent off after conceding an early goal, meaning Timm Klose and Maximilian Arnold are suspended for the Schalke clash.

Even so, the hosts can be trusted to make life difficult for their more illustrious opponents, with home win paying 2.90 (19/10) at Sportingbet.

Striker Bas Dost remains sidelined, whereas midfielders Vieirinha and Robin Knoche are both doubtful through injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Benaglio – Trasch, Naldo, Knoche, Rodriguez – Koo, Polak – Vieirinha, Diego, Perisic – Olic.

Just like their next opponents, Schalke, too, were far from impressive last term, although they never really got too far away from top 4 positions.

Champions League elimination at the hands of Galatasaray proved to be a blessing in disguise as the Miners were able to fully focus on their domestic campaign, which in turn saw them secure the fourth place in the standings.

The team have since suffered some changes, and while Michel Bastos were the only notable player to depart, the club managed to make several excellent signings.

Besides reinforcing the back line with Tim Hoogland and Felipe Santana, Schalke added the likes of Clemens and Goretzka to the engine room as well as signing striker Adam Szalai, so no wonder much is expected of the team this term.

Not everything has been going according to plan as the Miners twice came from behind to record a 3-3 draw with Hamburg, and they are 2.50 (3/2) with BetVictor to make things right at Volkswagen Arena.

After scoring a brace seven days ago, star striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar is 1.91 (10/11) at William Hill to score at anytime.

Julian Draxler faces a fitness test, but Chinedu Obasi, Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Anthony Annan are definitely out.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Hildebrand – Uchida, Matip, Howedes, Fuchs – Neustadter, Jones – Farfan, Draxler, Clemens – Huntelaar.
