Wales vs BelgiumAs the only remaining home nation in the Euro 2016, Wales have a unique opportunity to enjoy even more success on their maiden European Championship appearance.

Standing between them and the semi-finals is Belgium, a team that have finally started to realise their full potential, hammering Hungary 4-0 in the first knockout stage.

Placed in the same group with England, Russia and Slovakia, Wales were always going to have an uphill task of reaching the Last 16 stage, but the Dragons have continued to defy the odds.

The opening triumph over Slovakia further raised the players’ spirits, and the team’s character showed as they recovered from a difficult defeat to England.

Wales produced a memorable performance to hammer Russia 3-0 and with England sharing spoils with Slovakia, it was Chris Coleman’s side that won the first place in the group.

That saw them being placed in the easier half of the draw, and while they did not impress against Northern Ireland, the Dragons did enough to set up a quarter-final date with Belgium.

And having beaten the Red Devils in the qualifiers, Wales can now be backed at 6.00 (5/1) to win in regular time and make it to the last four.

Captain Ashley Williams should be fit to play after recovering from a shoulder problem, while Hal Robson-Kanu could replace Sam Vokes in the starting line-up.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-1-1): Hennessey – Chester, A. Williams, Davies – Gunter, Allen, Ledley, Ramsey, Taylor – Bale – Robson-Kanu.

Belgium arrived to neighbouring France as one of the candidates for the coveted trophy, but numerous injuries in the build up clearly took the wind out of their sails.

The opening 2-0 loss to Italy hinted this could be yet another disappointing tournament for the Red Devils, but they have since managed to turn things around.

Back to back wins over Republic of Ireland and Sweden saw Belgium qualify for the knockout stages, but it was the magnificent showing against Hungary that seriously improved the atmosphere in the squad.

Mostly thanks to substitutes Michy Batshuayi and Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco, the Red Devils enjoyed a 4-0 triumph over Foci, and they will definitely have something to build on when they face Wales.

The problem is that centre-back Thomas Vermaelen is banned for the Wales game, with Jason Denayer expected to deputise.

Michy Batshuayi and Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco are pushing for starting places after coming off the bench to score vs Hungary.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Courtois – Meunier, Alderweireld, Denayer, Vertonghen – Nainggolan, Witsel – Ferreira-Carrasco, De Bruyne, Hazard – Lukaku.
