Republic of Ireland boss Giovani Trapattoni has vowed not to go all guns blazing at Armenia in their crucial Euro 2012 qualifier.

The Irish sit one point clear of third-placed Armenia, meaning a win or a draw against the former Soviet republic will guarantee them a place in the play-offs.

Ireland are 1.75 (3/4) with William Hill to win the game at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, but odds of 3.85 (57/20) offered by 188BET on draw look to have much bigger value in light of Giovanni Trapattoni’s latest comments.

“Our fans are very important but we must not think about ‘Go, go, go!’ to score a goal,” said Trapattoni at a press conference.

“We have to think always about not conceding a goal.

“In the past we have tried to score a goal, not scored a goal and conceded on the counter-attack.

“When I came here, I saw a DVD of the Irish team which was leading and attacked with eight players. We must do what we want to do, that’s maturity.

“For our team, for our players, this is a good test to show that with this maturity, we can achieve the result we want. All that matters is the result.”

Armenia may have something to say in this clash after all, especially after scoring 11 goals in last 3 qualifiers, with away win paying 5.50 (9/2) at Stan James.
