Roma vs Lazio preview

Roma will be looking to make amends for the disappointing exit from the Champions League when they play host to bitter rivals Lazio, with the visitors in much better form at the moment.

Roma managed to improve their league position a bit after the arrival of Vincenzo Montella and they are now five points adrift of fourth-placed Lazio, with the prospect of closing the gap to just two points.

The hosts are a bit low on confidence after the 3:0 defeat to Shakhtar in the Champions League, but this will be a special game in which current form rarely plays a part.

With Aleandro Rossi and Marco Brighi the only unavailable players at the moment, Vincenzo Montella should be able to field a very strong side.

The hosts are expected to line up in 4-2-3-1 formation with Vucinic, Perotta and Tadei playing behind lone striker Totti.

Lazio enter the game in much better mood then their opponents, after returning to winning ways with three points against Palermo, but the Biancocelesti will need all three points from Olimpico in order to remain in 4th place.

Lazio have been in pretty good form of late but Edy Reja’s men still face a difficult fight for the Champions League places, meaning they cannot afford to relax just yet.

Cristian Brocchi and Modibo Diakite are not yet ready to return, but Tommaso Rocchi and Andre Dias have resumed training and they could play some part.

Edy Reja will start with Sergio Floccari as a lone striker, with Hernanes, Zarate and Sculli providing support from midfield.

Roma are surprisingly seen as favourites in this clash with Victor Chandler paying 2.40 (7/5) on home win, but I see a good value in backing Lazio to win with 0:0 Asian handicap at odds of 2.25 (5/4).
