Mallorca vs Athletic Bilbao preview

Mallorca ended the three-match losing run as they shared spoils with Osasuna but the Islanders will have to start winning soon or risk slipping into the dangerous zone.

Mallorca will be aiming to rediscover their home form when they host high-flying Athletic Bilbao, after Michael Laudrup’s side were beaten 4:0 by Sporting Gijon last time out.

The hosts will be boosted by the return of Jose Nunes, Joao Victor and Pierre Webo from suspension, but striker Victor misses out through injury.

Athletic Bilbao are red hot at the moment, having won four straight La Liga games, scoring 10 goals in the process and conceding just one.

Los Leones climbed to fifth with a comprehensive win over Sporting Gijon and they now want to make another big step towards European qualification.

Key defender Fernando Amorebieta is back following a two-month spell on the sidelines, while midfield maestro Javi Martinez returns from suspension.

The two players should slot straight into the starting line-up as Ustaritz and Gurpegui are out through injury and suspension respectively.

Given Atletic’s amazing run of results, we are surprised that Mallorca are priced 2.31 (13/10) at 188BET to win the game, so there is a big value in backing Athletic at 3.30 (23/10). Draw pays 3.40 (12/5).
