Inter full-back Douglas Maicon has urged his teammates to try and beat Juventus on Saturday in order to close the gap behind their title rivals.

The Neroazzurri slipped to 16th place in the standings as they failed to beat Atalanta and are now no less than eight points behind leaders Juventus.

With the two teams set to face each other at Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday, Inter will get their chance to close the gap to five points.

“It will be tough against Juventus,” Maicon said. “But we’ll do our best to get the three points in order to start closing the gap with the leaders.”

The Brazilian says he is happy with team’s performance against Atalanta even if they failed to get all three points.

“I’m happy with how we all played against Atalanta and we must keep it up,” the former Monaco man added.

“We played with our hearts and that’s how we’ll get Inter back up near the top of the table again. It’s just a shame we only got a point today.

“Now we must immediately turn our attention to Saturday and Juventus…”

Despite the poor run of results, Inter are seen as favourites in their clash against Juventus, with Sportingbet paying 2.62 (13/8) on home win, whereas the Bianconeri are 3.20 (11/5) with Stan James.
