St Etienne vs LilleIf Lyon fail to beat Rennes at home, the winner of this tie will clinch Champions League qualification, which should be enough incentive for Lille and Saint Etienne to give their best at Grand Stade Lille Metropole.

Following the hugely disappointing start to the league campaign, les Dogues must be delighted to have found themselves in a position to fight for a Champions League berth.

After struggling with the busy schedule in the first part of the season, Rudi Garcia’s men showed a massive improvement after their European campaign ended and returned into the running for European positions.

Having shared spoils with Montpellier last weekend, les Dogues occupy the final Europa League berth, but they are tied on points with sixth-placed Nice, albeit having a superior goal difference.

Meanwhile, they are three points behind third-placed Lyon, meaning they need a win over Saint Etienne and les Gones to lose in order to achieve a third-place finish.

Lille are 1.95 (19/20) with Sportingbet to continue the good run of results at home, but chances are they will face a tough task against les Verts.

Midfielder Benoit Pedretti is available for selection after his red card was rescinded, but Aurelien Chedjou is doubtful and Ryan Mendes is injured.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Mouko – Beria, Chedjou, Basa, Digne – Balmont, Mavuba, Martin – Rodelin, Kalou, Payet.

Whatever happens in this match Saint Etienne will be celebrating the most successful season in club’s recent history, having won the first major trophy after 32 years.

The Coupe de la Ligue title is enough to make this season a success, but les Verts also have a decent chance to go one step further and ensure Champions League qualification.

Away defeat to Lorient seemed to have ended their dream, but Christophe Galtier’s men then showed a lot of character to beat second-placed Marseille at home.

Saint Etienne now sit just two points behind arch rivals Lyon, but the superior goal difference means they will finish in top three if they win at Lille and les Gones do not beat Rennes.

Winning at Grand Stade Lille Metropole may be a difficult task, but bear in mind away win pays 4.10 (31/10) at BetVictor.

Midfielder turned defender Jonathan Brison returns from injury, while Francois Clerc is back from suspension. Max Gradel, Jeremy Clement and Andrea Laudrup remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Ruffier – Clerc, Perrin, Sall, Brison – Guilavogui, Lemoine, Cohade – Hamouma, Brandao, Aubameyang.
