FA-cup

Sunday afternoon’s game at the KC Stadium sees Hull City host Sunderland in the quarter finals of this season’s FA Cup.

The Tigers booked their place in the last eight by beating Brighton and Hove Albion in a fifth round replay almost two weeks ago, having drawn the original tie at the Amex Stadium.

They go in to the match on the back of last weekend’s 4-1 defeat at home to Newcastle United, a result which has left them just six points above the Premier League’s bottom three.

Steve Bruce will be unable to call upon forward duo Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long, with the pair cup tied having already represented Everton and West Bromwich Albion respectively in this season’s competition.

Paul McShane will miss the game having undergone ankle surgery earlier in the week, while Robbie Brady has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a groin problem.

Yannick Sagbo is favourite to open the scoring at 7.5 (13/2) with most firms, with Matty Fryatt an 8.0 (7/1) shot with Paddy Power.

The home win can be backed at 2.2 (6/5) with a variety of bookmakers, with Sunderland as highly priced as the 3.75 (11/4) on offer from Bet Victor. The draw is 3.4 (12/5) with Betfred.

The Black Cats, who are aiming to reach Wembley for the second time this season having been defeated in the Capital One Cup final last weekend, beat Southampton in the fifth round to set up this meeting against former manager Steve Bruce.

Goalkeeper Kieran Westwood is Gus Poyet’s only injury worry, though former Brighton man Liam Bridcutt is cup-tied.
Steven Fletcher is 8.5 (15/2) with Bet 365 to open the scoring, with Adam Johnson generously priced at 11.5 (21/2) with Bet Victor.

Hull have won both of their Premier League matches against Sunderland this season, securing a 2-0 victory at the Stadium of Light last month to add to their 1-0 home triumph back in November.

With this is mind, you may be tempted to back the hosts to win to nil this time around, which is priced at 3.4 (12/5) with Paddy Power.
