Genoa vs Inter preview

Both Genoa and Inter recorded morale-boosting victories at the weekend, so we expect to see a good match between two side looking to further improve their league position.

Talented coach Alberto Malesani had some problems at the start of his reign at Marassi as he just couldn’t get the team playing the way he wanted them to, but the Rossoblu have shown a lot of improvement since.

Weekend’s 2:0 away win over Siena not only helped the team return to the top part of the table, but also served as a big confidence boost after back to back defeats to Cesena and Milan, thus there are no doubts the hosts go into this match in good spirits.

Before losing to Milan in their last home game, the Rossoblu had won four of five games at Marassi, meaning that odds of 3.40 (12/5) offered by Victor Chandler on home win could be worth a shot.

Coach Alberto Malesani faces a real selection headache before the Inter clash, with several important players missing out through injury.

Rodrigo Palacio has been ruled out until the New Year, whereas Juraj Kucka, Luca Antonelli and Valter Birsa are also sidelined. Cesare Bovo is doubtful.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Frey – Mesto, Dainelli, Kaladze, Moretti – Rossi, Veloso, Constant – Merkel – Ze Eduardo, Pratto.

Inter, too, have experienced numerous problems at the start to the season, having finished much of the league campaign in the bottom half of the table.

Numerous injuries and Gian Piero Gasperini’s experiments certainly prevented the Neroazzurri from showing all they’ve got, but at least they finally appear to be raising their form.

Inter have now won three of their last four league games and taking into account Genoa’s problems with injuries, backing Inter at 2.38 (11/8) offered by Ladbrokes looks like a very good bet.

The Neroazzurri have been far from impressive on the travels, winning just two of six away games, but this looks like a perfect opportunity to improve that record.

There are no fresh injuries to report for Claudio Ranieri’s side, but Sneijder, Viviano, Forlan, Jonathan, Obi and Stankovic remain sidelined. Javier Zanetti returns from suspension.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Cesar – Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Nagatomo – Alvarez, Motta, Cambiasso, Zanetti – Milito, Pazzini.
