England are tied on points with second-placed Montenegro after four rounds, meaning the Three Lions have got to win this game in order to remain at the top, whereas Switzerland need at least one point from Wembley to remain in contention for the second place.

Even though they entered the Euro 2012 qualifiers on the back of another disappointing showing at a major tournament, Fabio Capello’s side started the campaign in style, having comprehensively beaten Bulgaria at home and Switzerland away before sharing spoils with Montenegro.

The Three Lions returned to winning ways as they beat Wales in Cardiff and they are now hoping for a win that would see them remain in top spot. England are 1.36 (4/11) with Ladbrokes to claim maximum points.

Wayne Rooney misses the game through suspension, while Jermain Defoe, Michael Carrick, Andy Carroll and Steven Gerrard are out injured.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Hart – G. Johnson, Ferdinand, Terry, A. Cole – Lampard, Parker, Wilshire – Walcott, Bent, A. Young.

Following the decent showing at the World Cup in South Africa, Switzerland haven’t had a lot of success at the start of the Euro 2012 qualifiers, although they are still not out of contention for the second place in the group.

The Swiss did take just four points from as many games, but home defeat to England and away defeat to in-form Montenegro cannot be dubbed as too disappointing, especially considering that Otmar Hitzfeld’s side managed to bring one point from Bulgaria and beat Wales comprehensively at home.

If Switzerland play their cards right in the remainder of the campaign, they will have a decent chance of clinching the second place in the group, so odds of 6.70 (57/10) offered by Betfair on Switzerland to progress are definitely worth a shot.

After strikers Alexander Frei and Marco Streller decided to retire from international football, Otmar Hitzfeld was forced to call youngsters Innocent Emeghara and Admir Mehmedi up front, one of which could play some part in this game.

Probable starting line-up (4-5-1): Wolfi – Lichtsteiner, Von Bergen, Grichting, Ziegler – Barnetta, Behrami, Inler, Fernandes, Shaqiri – Derdiyok.
