Dinamo Moscow vs Anzhi preview

Anzhi vs LokomotivBoth teams will have something to prove in this match after failing to win their opening fixtures in the new season of Russian Premier League.

Dinamo Moscow finished the previous league campaign just five points behind their next opponents, but while Anzhi achieved a third-place finish they had to settle for seventh place in the standings.

Dinamiki will be obviously looking to show an improvement this term, but the team might need quite a while to properly gel.

The club have seen quite a few players leave in the summer, but Aleksandr Kokorin, who was sold to Anzhi, was the only high-profile player to depart.

Meanwhile, they have signed the likes of Kasaev, Dyadyun and Douglas, with the new players expected to increase competition for places.

As expected, Dinamo were far from impressive in their opening match against Volga, although they did come from two goals behind to earn one point.

With Emilian Caras’ men now set to face a much tougher task, I see no value in odds of 3.70 (27/10) offered at bet365 on home win.

New signings Douglas and Dyadyun should be in contention to make their debuts, having been signed after the Volga game.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-1-1): Shunin – Wilkshire, Fernandez, Granat, Lomic – Sobolev, Yusupov, Noboa, Kasaev – Voronin – Smolov.

Free-spending Anzhi may have failed to mount a serious title challenge last term, but they cannot be too disappointed with the third-place finish.

Determined to finally challenge for honours this season, the club have again invested considerable funds into new players, signing some excellent players in Igor Denisov, Aleksandr Kokorin and Christopher Samba.

Guus Hiddink’s men haven’t had a perfect start to the new league campaign, having shared spoils with Lokomotiv Moscow at home, although they were somewhat unfortunate not to claim maximum points.

Anzhi did well to take a 2-1 lead after coming from a goal behind, but only to concede a last-gasp equalizer. Samuel Eto’o then had an opportunity to score the winner from the penalty spot, but he missed and his side had to settle for one point.

With that in mind, the team from Makhachkala will attempt to make things right against Dinamo, with away win paying 2.10 (11/10) at Sportingbet.

Lacina Traore has picked up an injury against Lokomotiv, while Aleksandr Kokorin, Yuri Zhirkov, Andrey Eshchenko and Arseniy Logashov remain unavailable.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Gabulov – Gadzhibekov, Samba, Carlos, Tagirbekov – Denisov, Diarra – Ionov, Willian, Boussoufa – Eto’o.
