This is the last chance for Bulgaria to return into contention for the top two places in the group, whereas England can make a giant step towards the Euro 2012 by winning in Sofia.

Bulgaria have experienced some tough times over the past few years and they are still unable to return to the big stage.

The team led by Lothar Mathaus had a very poor start to the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, having lost their opening games to England and Montenegro, conceding five goals in the process.

The Bulgarians then beat Wales away before sharing spoils with both Switzerland and Montenegro, and they now sit six points behind the top two places.

The odds of 8.00 (7/1) offered on Bulgaria to go through speak volumes about team’s chances of reaching the final tournament, but Lothar Matthaus’ side will, nevertheless, try to pull off a major surprise and beat England in Sofia.

Leicester defender on loan at Crystal Palace, Alexander Tunchev returns following a two-year absence and he is expected to start at the back, while Stiliyan and Martin Petrov are expected to make a difference in this match.

Dimitar Berbatov has retired from international football a while ago and he is no longer part of the team.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-2-1): Mihaylov – Zanev, Iliev, Tunchev, Bandalovski – Georgiev, S. Petrov, Manolev – Marquinhos, M. Petrov – Popov.

Sitting tied on points with Montenegro at the top of Group G, England have got to continue the rich vein of form if they want to finish the campaign as group winners.

Fabio Capello’s men had a very good start to the Euro 2012 qualifiers, but slip-ups against Montenegro and Switzerland at Wembley could end up costing them the first place in the group.

With the Three Lions set to travel to Montenegro in their final group game, they will be looking to ensure the first place in the standings before that match, so this looks like a must-win game for them. England are 1.57 (4/7) to claim maximum points in Bulgaria.

Fabio Capello has served up a couple of surprises when naming his squad for games against Bulgaria and Wales, having called Manchester United youngsters Tom Cleverley, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

Daniel Welbeck misses out through injury, just like Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand, while Robert Green has withdrawn.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Hart – Richards, Terry, Cahill, Baines – Young, Lampard, Barry, Downing – Bent, Rooney.
