Bordeaux vs Paris Saint-Germain preview

The match between two French giants can hardly be dubbed as derby considering that Bordeaux and PSG currently sit in 11th and 4th place respectively.

Les Girondins have seen a major downtrend in fortunes since Laurent Blanc decided to leave the club and take over the national team, with his replacement Jean Tigana struggling to get the best out of severely weakened team.

As a result, Bordeaux now sit in 11th place in the standings, just four points above the relegation zone and there is no doubt les Girondins will have something to prove in this match, especially after suffering back to back defeats to Sochaux and Lens.

Coach Jean Tigana has resigned following the 4:0 defeat to Sochaux, but that didn’t help the team avoid defeat to Lens last weekend, meaning the hosts enter this match in very poor spirits.

Midfielder Alou Diarra returns to the side after suspension, but Yoann Gouffran is still out with an ankle injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Carrasso – Chalme, Marange, Planus, Tremoulinas – Fernando, Diarra – Jussie, Wendel, Plasil – Modeste.

Paris Saint-Germain have shown a lot of improvement lately and they now have a great chance to dislodge Lyon from the final Champions League place.

The Saints are two points adrift of Lyon with a game in hand, meaning that a victory in Bordeaux would give them the upper hand in the race for third place in the standings, with PSG 2.75 (7/4) to win the game at 888Sport.

Antoine Kombouare’s side enter the match on the back of the disappointing Coupe de France final defeat to Lille, which was the first loss after eight games, but we have to say the Saints only lost the game because of the horrible blunder by keeper Gregory Coupet.

Kombouare will now have Jallet back from suspension, but Makelele and Luyindula miss out through injuries.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Coupet – Ceara, Sakho, Camara, Tiene – Bodmer, Chantome – Giuly, Nene, Jallet – Hoarau.
