Atletico Mineiro has revealed that they will not stand in the way of star midfielder Bernard as he hopes to join a top European clubs.
The 20-year-old has become one of the most sought-after players in world football, but the Brazilian giants did not want to negotiate a sale until the end of their Copa Libertadores campaign.
That proved to be a visionary decision as they went on to claim the coveted title and now the time has come to part ways with Bernard.
“The president has already made very clear, if an offer of €25 million (£22m) arrives, he is going to sell and we will buy another player,” Atletico director Eduardo Maluf told Radio Globo.
“If this offer did not appear, Bernard will stay at Atletico. He is young and can leave at the end of the year.”
Having been confirmed as one of the suitors, FC Porto are 1.25 (1/4) favourites with SkyBet to sign the midfielder this summer, while long-term admirers Arsenal are 5.00 (4/1).
