West Ham United and Hull City meet at the Boleyn Ground this evening, with both sides eager to edge closer to assuring their Premier League safety.

The hosts have lost their last three matches, and are just six points above eighteenth place Sunderland, having played two games more than Gus Poyet’s side.

They travel to the Stadium of Light on Monday, so will be extra keen to widen the gap between themselves and the Black Cats before they clash.

Matt Jarvis’ fitness will be assessed ahead of the game after sustaining a thigh injury in Saturday’s loss to Manchester United, while James Tomkins, who also picked up a knock in that game, should be fit enough to feature.

Carlton Cole is favourite to open the scoring at 7.0 (6/1) with most firms, with Andy Carroll a 7.5 (13/2) chance with 888 Sport.

The Hammers are 2.38 (11/8) to win the game with Bet 365, with the draw a 3.3 (23/10) with the same firm. Hull are as highly priced as the 3.4 (12/5) on offer from Coral.

The visitors bounced back from two straight league defeats with victory over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, moving them up to twelfth place on to thirty-three points.

They are eight points clear of the bottom three, and victory here will move them a point behind Stoke City in tenth.

Steve Bruce is confident that Shane Long will be fit enough to partner Nikica Jelavic upfront, while Curtis Davies is expected to recover from a knee knock in time to be included.

Jelavic is an 8.5 (15/2) shot with 888 Sport to get the first goal of the game, ahead of Long, who is 9.0 (8/1) with the same firm.

A Robbie Brady penalty was enough to separate the sides when they met at the KC Stadium back in September, while their last meeting in East London came in the Championship two seasons ago, and ended in a 2-1 victory for Sam Allardyce’s men.

Only Chelsea have kept more clean sheets than West Ham in the Premier League this season, so you may be tempted to take advantage of Bet Victor’s offer of 3.9 (29/10) for a home win to nil.
