Danny Welback Man UtdThe Independent has learned that Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck is doubtful for Boxing Day match against Hull City.

The England international has been in fine form of late, scoring three goals in back to back victories over Aston Villa and West Ham, but he could now miss the trip to KC Stadium.

Welbeck suffered a knock on his knee in the 3-0 triumph over the Hammers and while the new injury is not related to his previous problem, he faces a fitness test ahead of the Hull City clash.

And with Michael Carrick, Robin van Persie and Marouane Fellaini also missing, David Moyes will be hoping Welbeck can recover in time to start the match.

Having kick-started their season with four straight victories, Manchester United are 1.62 (5/8) to continue the impressive run of results, with Welbeck 2.63 (13/8) to score anytime.

The Red Devils will also be playing Norwich away and Tottenham Hotspur at home during the festive schedule and some important missings could prove to be a problem for David Moyes.

This is one of the reasons why the Scottish manager has suggested that Nick Powell, Ryan Tunnicliffe and Jesse Lingard could be recalled from their respective loan spells.
