De RoonPremier League newcomers Middlesbrough have announced the signing of Dutch midfielder Marten de Roon from Atalanta.

The 25-year-old becomes club’s third signing of the summer transfer window, following in the footsteps of Bernardo Espinosa and Viktor Fischer.

The cost of the transfer was not disclosed, but it is believed Boro paid around £12 million for the highly rated footballer.

Marten de Roon had only joined Atalanta last summer, but he largely impressed in his maiden Serie A campaign, making 36 appearances and scoring 1 goal.

The central midfielder also represented Sparta Rotterdam and Heerenveen, and he now gets a chance to prove his skills in English Premier League.

Middlesbrough are given decent chances to avoid the drop next season and they can be backed at 1.62 (5/8) not to get relegated to the Championship.
