Manchester United vs Manchester City preview

All eyes will be on Old Trafford on Saturday as Manchester rivals prepare for the intense battle that could decide the outcome of the title race.

Having just suffered the first defeat of the season, United are looking to bounce back and keep the four-point advantage over Arsenal, as well as rule out their local rivals from the title chase.

Rio Ferdinand continues to miss out, meaning Chris Smalling is likely to partner Nemanja Vidic in the heart of defence.

Park Ji-Sung is back in contention after returning from the Asian Cup, but Owen Hargreaves and Antonio Valencia remain long-term worries.

Manchester City returned to winning way by beating West Brom at home and this is a perfect opportunity for Roberto Mancini’s side to prove they have what it takes to fight for the title.

The game could come too soon for Mario Balotelli as he is still struggling with knee injury, while Nigel De Jong is rated 50-50 after picking up an ankle injury.

Andy Johnson and Micah Richards remain on the sidelines, so Roberto Mancini is unlikely to make big changes to the side that beat West Brom.

United are 1.80 (4/5) to win the game and make another step towards the title, while City are priced 4.75 (15/4) at 888Sport. Draw pays 3.25 (9/4).
