This weekend’s Premier League action kicks off at Anfield as Liverpool take on a Cardiff City, with the two clubs currently in totally opposite moods.

The hosts are flying high – not least due to their lofty league position but also following the news that top scorer Luis Suarez has put pen to paper on a lucrative new long-term contract with the club.

They are however without captain Steven Gerrard, Jose Enrique and Daniel Sturridge for the game, so a similar line up to that which started the 5-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last time out is expected.

Unsurprisingly, Suarez is favourite to open the scoring at 2.0 (1/1) with Paddy Power, with Bet Victor offering odds of 2.75 (7/4) for the Uruguay international to score at least twice.

Liverpool, who will return to the top of the table should they take all three points, are available at 1.22 (2/9) for the win, with the visitors as highly priced as the 18.0 (17/1) on offer from Bet Victor. Bet 365 have the draw at 7.5 (13/2).

The Bluebirds go into the game on the back of a 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, though that was there only victory in their last six games.

However, the y have much bigger problems, with manager Malky Mackay reportedly being told to resign or else he will be relieved of his duties by chairman Vincent Tan, who has listed a number of grievances with the Scot.

On the field, the Bluebirds have no fresh injury concerns though they will wait to see in Craig Bellamy will be fit enough to face his former club.

The veteran Welshman, who has had two spells with the Merseyside club, is priced at 8.5 (15/2) with Ladbrokes to score at any time during the game.

This is the first time the sides have met since the 2012 League Cup final, where Liverpool emerged victorious on penalties after the game finished 2-2 after extra time.

However, with the sides in such contrasting form, you may want to back the Reds to score freely once more, with Coral offering a price of 3.4 (12/5) that they will score at least four times.
