With a couple of good results in a row, Everton climbed to the top part of the table and they can now even enter the race for the European places.

The away victory over Newcastle was their third in last four games, and the Toffees are now eager to continue the trend against struggling Birmingham.

Phil Neville remains a doubt with a hamstring strain, while Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini are still in the infirmary. Seamus Coleman should return to the starting line-up.

Birmingham City slipped into the relegation zone just a week after achieving a historic success in the Carling Cup and the Blues are now in desperate search for a good result at Goodison.

Brum are one point behind safety, but with two games in hand, so maybe this is the right time to take the odds of 1.33 (1/3) offered by Victor Chandler on Birmingham to stay up.

Alex McLeish faces an anxious wait over Barry Ferguson, Craig Gardner, Martin Jiranek, Alexander Hleb, Liam Ridgewell and Nikola Zigic, who are all doubtful, while James McFadden, Scott Dann and Enric Valles remain sidelined.

Everton are the favourites at William Hill with home win paying 1.57 (4/7), whereas the odds on Brum not to lose are 2.40 (7/5) at Bodog.
