QPR midfielder Joey Barton would love to join Everton this summer, the player’s representative has revealed.
The controversial footballer was in fine form while on loan at Marseille last season, but his £70,000 a week wages proved to be an obstacle to a permanent move to Stade Velodrome.
Barton is, however, hoping to return to the Premier League and he has offered his services to boyhood club Everton.
“Joey said there was only one club he would make a sacrifice for and it would be Everton and I made that call to Martinez,” agent Willie McKay told talkSPORT.
“That is the club he loves. I have approached them and said Joey would love to have Everton on his CV.
“Roberto Martinez said he likes him as a player and he also spoke to (Martinez’s assistant) Graeme Jones, who loves him as a player. Anything can happen in football. It could happen.”
It remains to be seen whether the Toffees will be making a move on the experienced midfielder, but it is important to note Barton is 1.73 (8/11) with SkyBet to sign for Everton this summer.
