Anelka to turn back the years at West Brom

anelkaWest Bromwich Albion produced quite a coup by signing Nicolas Anelka on a free transfer from Juventus, although it remains to be seen if the Frenchman can kick-start his career at the Hawthorns.

The 34-year-old will have an opportunity to represent the sixth Premier League club in his career, having featured for Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bolton and Chelsea.

Many believe that Anelka is well past his prime, having scored just three league goals since leaving the Blues in March 2012, but I beg to differ.

While struggling to find motives to play for Shanghai Shenhua, he wasn’t even given a chance to prove his worth at Juventus, and he must be very motivated to get back into action.

Having consistently scored goals in the Premier League in the past, I am pretty sure he can do it all over again, as he is expected to establish a fruitful partnership with one Shane Long.

After scoring a total of 123 Premiership goals since joining Arsenal some 15 years back, Anelka looks a good bet to bag eight league goals or more next season, at odds of 1.91 (10/11) offered at BetVictor.
