Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has praised his players for the performance against bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers at Celtic Park on Wednesday evening.

Postecoglou’s Celtic got the better of Rangers 3-0 at home in the Scottish Premiership.

Reo Hatate scored twice for the Hoops in the Old Firm derby, and Liel Abada found the back of the net once.

Postecoglou told Celtic’s official website: “I’m super proud of the players. Everyone knew it was a big game and the massive consequences of it, and we knew what it meant to our supporters.

“I thought our first-half football was outstanding. It was really quality play, great goals and we could have had some more – their keeper pulled off some great saves.

“In the second half we had to defend more but, again, we’ve shown we can do that so I’m really proud.

“I’ve been pretty fortunate. I’ve had some special moments in football but that one’s up there tonight.

“From the moment we walked out until 10 minutes after the game, they didn’t stop. That’s the most pleasing thing – that the players put in a performance worthy of our support and I think everyone goes home happy tonight.”

Celtic are now a point ahead of defending champions and second-placed Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and can be backed at 1/2 on Betfair to win the championship.
