Ally McCoist concerned by Steven Gerrard and Newcastle speculation

Ally McCoist has said that he is concerned that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is being linked with Newcastle United job.

Gerrard is among the managers the new Newcastle owners are reportedly looking at.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) have bought the Premier League from Mike Ashley.

The Telegraph have reported that current Newcastle manager Steve Bruce will be sacked before this weekend’s Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Daily Mail have reported that Liverpool legend Gerrard is among the candidates to replace Bruce.

Rangers legend McCoist is worried that Gers boss Gerrard could leave his role at Ibrox and move to Newcastle.

McCoist said on talkSPORT (9:25am, October 11, 2021) regarding Gerrard and Newcastle speculation: “Slightly concerned. I would be slightly concerned. I don’t know. Listen, there’s no use being worried about it.

“Steven had a great year last year, won the title. They haven’t started just as well this year, however, they are still sitting at the top of the league.

“Naturally he would be a name that would come into the equation as well.”

Gerrard can be can be backed at 14/1 on Betfair to become the next permanent Newcastle manager.
