Shakhtar vs BayernIn-form FC Porto will be looking to take advantage of Bayern’s problems and possibly create an advantage ahead of the return leg at Alianz Arena.

The injury-hit Bavarians remain the favourites to go through, but chances are a number of key men will be sorely missed at Estadio do Dragao.

Nobody really expected FC Porto to reach the final stages of the Champions League, but the Dragons simply took it one game at a time and have been pretty impressive up to date.

After winning the first position in Group H with five points to spare, Julep Lopetegui’s charges hammered FC Basel in the first knockout stage to earn a chance to fight Bayern Munich for a place in the semis.

Comfortable wins over Estoril and Rio Ave helped the player further raise the confidence ahead of the visit of the German champions, and the Dragons are 4.80 (16/5) shot to win the first leg.

FC Porto will be hoping to extend a ten-match unbeaten run (W7 D3) at home in Champions League matches, but that will be no easy task.

Coach Julen Lopetegui is sweating over the fitness of star striker Jackson Martinez, and the Colombian is highly unlikely to start.

Cristian Tello is definitely out with a muscle tear, while his compatriot Adrian Lopez is struggling for fitness at the moment and Ivan Marcano is banned.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Fabiano – Danilo, Maicon, Martins Indi, Alex Sandro – Torres, Casemiro, Herrera – Quaresma, Aboubakar, Brahimi.

Bayern Munich are ranked as the number one favourites for the Champions League title, but winning the coveted trophy is not going to be an easy task.

The Bavarians were probably not too disappointed with the quarter-final draw, but they would have liked to have most key men available for the first leg.

Coach Pep Guardiola will instead be without a selection of very good footballers, but he will obviously attempt to make the best out of the situation.

In spite of all their problems, Bayern have been rightly made 1.83 (5/6) favourites to win the first leg at Estadio do Dragao.

Sporting director Matthias Sammer has confirmed that the likes of Franck Ribery and Bastian Schweinsteiger will miss the Porto game, while Arjen Robben, Mehdi Benatia, Javi Martinez, David Alaba and Tom Starke remain on the sidelines.

The good news is that Jerome Boateng and Claudio Pizarro are back to the side, while Thiago Alcantara had already returned into action.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-3): Neuer – Boateng, Dante, Badstuber – Rafinha, Alonso, Lahm, Bernat – Muller, Lewandowski, Gotze.
