Cordoba vs Athletic Bilbao preview

Cordoba vs AthleticThis is probably Cordoba’s final chance to keep their survival hopes alive, with the team already eight points adrift of safety.

Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao head into the game high on spirits having closed the gap behind European positions to just three points and they will fancy their chances of winning at Estadio Nuevo Arcangel.

It is quite surprising that Cordoba still have a slim chance of avoiding the drop having last recorded a La Liga win back in January.

Los Blanquiverdes won the first two league matches in 2015, but have since taken just three points from 14 games, slipping to the bottom of the standings.

Away draws with Deportivo and Villarreal did well to help the players restore some of the lost confidence, but Cordoba still face an uphill task with just six games to go.

Jose Romero’s charges will give their best to end the barren run against Athletic, with home win paying 4.10 (31/10) at BetVictor.

Cordoba were very fortunate to avoid defeat to Villarreal, but they will now have Dani Pinillos back from suspension.

Inigo Lopez and Iago Bouzon remain on the sidelines, whereas Borja Garcia is banned for the Athletic Bilbao clash as well.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Carlos – Gunino, Crespo, Deivid, Edimar – Krhin, Gomez – Bebe, Cartabia, Fidel – Andone.

While the team experienced all sorts of problems in the opening exchanges due to playing in the Champions League, Athletic slowly managed to get their season back on track.

One of Copa del Rey’s most successful sides again made it to the competition final, where they will be facing none other than mighty Barcelona.

And while a top 7 finish in La Liga looked like mission impossible a couple of months ago, Athletic are now on the verge of climbing to Europa League places.

Los Leones had some problems after their five-match winning run came to an end as they could only take one point from games against Sevilla, Valencia and Espanyol, but weekend’s win over Getafe saw them close the gap behind seventh-placed Malaga to three points.

And with Athletic now facing arguably league’s weakest side, they look a good bet to emerge victorious at 2.15 (23/20).

Ander Iturraspe remains doubtful with a hamstring problem, but Mikel Balenziaga and Guillermo Fernandez are expected to miss out.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Iraizoz – De Marcos, Etxeita, Laporte, Aurtenetxe – Benat, San Jose – Williams, Susaeta, Ibai – Aduriz.
