Chelsea and AS Roma are interested in acquiring the services of Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, according to Sky Sports News.

Both clubs could potentially be on the lookout for a new keeper with the futures of Thibaut Courtois and Alisson uncertain. The Chelsea stopper has been linked with Real Madrid, whilst Allison was seemingly provoking interest from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Should either player move on from their current employers, Chelsea and Roma potentially see Schmeichel as a capable replacement.

Leicester will not be keen to sell, however. Since joining the club from Leeds United in 2011, the 31-year-old has played a key role in Leicester’s promotion, their subsequent title triumph in 2015/16 and their run to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. In all, the Dane has made 296 appearances for the Foxes and kept 96 clean sheets.

The former Manchester City man has also enjoyed a successful campaign at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Despite Denmark only reaching the last-16, they were just edged out by Croatia. Schmeichel saved a Luka Modric penalty in the closing minutes of extra-time and a further two in the penalty shoot-out.

One of the men whom he could potentially be replacing, Alisson, currently sits at 12/5 with Paddy Power to leave Roma and sign for Real Madrid before the end of the summer transfer window.
