Fiorentina vs Juventus preview

Fiorentina did well to end a poor run of results ahead of the derby game against Juventus, where they will be desperate to put a dent into the Bianconeri’s title bid.

That looks easier said than done given the fact that Max Allegri’s side have won last ten matches in all competitions, but are still trailing Napoli in the Serie A title chase.

Fiorentina have been on a major downtrend of late as the Della Valle family opted to cut back spending on new players, and the fans haven’t had a lot to cheer about in the past few years.

Times when Viola were vying for Champions League positions look a distant past now and even Europa League places look far away at the moment.

The poor run of results that started before the end of last year finally came to an end as Fiorentina defeated Bologna on the road, with in-demand Federico Chiesa scoring the winning goal.

Viola will now attempt to record another positive result and edge closer to Europa League positions, but they will not have an easy job.

Full-back Vincent Laurini is rated doubtful, but Cyril Thereau should be recalled to the side, while German Pezzella also returns.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Sporteillo – Gaspar, Pezzella, Astori, Biraghi – Veretout, Badelj, Benassi – Chiesa, Simeone, Thereau.

Juventus may have experienced some problems at the start of the season, but the Bianconeri have since returned to the right track and they’ve been largely impressive of late.

Max Allegri’s side not only recorded ten straight wins, but they conceded just one goal in last 15, which is a remarkable achievement.

The 7-0 hammering of Sassuolo was a perfect introduction into the high-profile game against Fiorentina, where the Bianconeri are 1.85 (17/20) to emerge victorious.

Juventus suffered a 2-1 loss on their previous trip to Artemio Franchi, but won two matches prior to said encounter, scoring 5 goals in the process.

Max Allegri is expected to rest some of his starters ahead of the Champions League clash with Tottenham, with Kwadwo Asamoah, Claudio Marchisio and Federico Bernardeschi expected to start.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Szczesny – De Sciglio, Benatia, Chiellini, Asamoah – Khedira, Pjanic, Marchisio – Bernardeschi, Higuain, Mandzukic.
