AC Milan vs Sampdoria preview

Samp vs MilanWith an impressive run of results having ended in the last couple of weeks, AC Milan will be eager to return to winning ways this weekend.

Sampdoria find themselves in a similar situation after failing to win any of last four games, so no doubts we will see a nervy affair at San Siro.

AC Milan may have shown glimpses of quality this term, but the results as well as performances this term are way below the expectations.

The reality is the Rossoneri were not exactly doing much better in any of the last few seasons, but having splashed out on quite a few high-profile signings in the summer, the club chiefs have every right to demand improvement from coach Sinisa Mihajlovic and his charges.

AC Milan appeared to have turn things around as they recorded three wins in a row, with a 3-1 away triumph over Lazio especially impressive, but the good run was short-lived.

The Rossoneri then failed to score in two successive games, sharing spoils with Atalanta before losing to Juventus, so it’s now back to the drawing board.

AC Milan have done pretty well at home this term, winning five of seven fixtures at San Siro, so no wonder they have been made 1.60 (3/5) favourites to claim maximum points.

Selection problems continue to mount for Sinisa Mihajlovic as Andrea Bertolacci has joined Jeremy Menez, Mario Balotelli, Diego Lopez and Nigel de Jong in the treatment room, whereas Luiz Adriano is doubtful.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Donnarumma – Abate, Alex, Romagnoli, Antonelli – Cerci, Montolivo, Kucka, Bonaventura – Bacca, Niang.

Sampdoria were one of the surprise packages last term as the current AC Milan coach excelled at Marassi, and they enjoyed a decent start to the new campaign as well.

The Bluecerchiati were eliminated from Europe early on, but with 4 wins and 2 draws in first nine league fixtures, the team had reason for optimism ahead of the remainder of the season.

Nevertheless, Sampdoria have suffered a major dip in form since the impressive 4-1 triumph over Hellas Verona, taking mere two points from last four fixtures.

Back to back draws with Empoli and Chievo were followed by defeats to Fiorentina and Udinese, in which the Blucerchiati failed to score a single goal.

And with AC Milan boasting the identical scoring record in their last two fixtures, bear in mind that under 1.5 goals pays 3.75 (11/4).

Djamel Mesbah and Nenad Krsticic appear ready to return into action, but Ervin Zukanovic is banned and Niklas Moisander is doubtful.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Vivano – De Silvestri, Silvestre, Moisander, Regini – Ivan, Fernando, Barreto – Soriano – Eder, Muriel.
