Monaco vs St EtienneSaint Etienne remained in the race for European positions thanks to a 2-1 win over Angers, and they now aim to pile more misery on struggling Marseille.

OM suffered yet another disappointing loss as they were hammered by Monaco, slipping to 12th in the Ligue 1 standings.

Saint Etienne have struggled to remain near the top of Ligue 1 standings in recent years, but they are doing fairly well this season.

Les Verts have all but secured progress from a difficult Europa League group, while staying close to European positions in the league, meaning they can be proud of their performances this season.

Saint Etienne did, however, experience some problems up front, failing to score a single goal in matches against Metz, Nice and Mainz, but they managed to return to the right track against Angers.

Les Verts came from a goal down to defeat Angers on the road, and the win will certainly act as a major confidence boost ahead of the visit of Marseille.

Defender Kevin Malcuit is suspended after he was sent off in the dying moments of the match, while Leo Lacroix is also banned.

The hosts also have numerous injury problems as Alexander Soderlund, Kevin Monnet-Paquet, Robert Beric, Fabien Lemoine and Ronael Pierre-Gabriel are all sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Ruffier – Theophile Catherine, Perrin, Pogba, M’Bengue – Veretout, Pajot, Saivet – Tannane, Roux, Hamouma.

One of France’s most famous clubs have been in all sorts of problems over the last few years and there is still no light at the end of the tunnel.

Former Lille and AS Roma boss Rudi Garcia has so far failed to help the team improve the unenviable league position, with his side sitting mere four points above the bottom three.

Team’s away form has proved to be a major issue as Marseille have now picked up just two points from last seven matches on the road, but at least OM are doing well at the iconic Stade Velodrome.

Rudi Garcia’s charges have won four of last seven home games this season, and the interesting thing is they conceded just one goal in the process.

However, after losing 4-0 to Monaco at Stade Louis II, Marseille desperately need to show improvement when facing Saint Etienne.

The visitors will have to make do without talented midfielder Zakaria Machach due to suspension, whilst Abou Diaby and Henri Bedimo are out injured.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Pele – Sakai, Fanni, Rolando, Rekik – Vainqueur, Diarra, Lopez – Thauvin, Gomis, N’Jie.
