Austria vs MontenegroBuoyed by the hard-fought victory over Moldova, Austria will be looking to seriously improve their qualifying chances with a win against Montenegro.

The Brave Falcons are extremely low on confidence following a shock draw with Liechtenstein, and they have no choice but to try and compensate by winning in Wien.

Austria have failed to qualify for a major tournament since 1998, having been awarded a place at the Euro 2008, and they now aim to finally end the barren run.

After showing a great deal of potential in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers as well as in friendly games, Das Team entered the new qualifying campaign in good spirits.

As a result, they completely outclassed very good Sweden side in their opening fixture, but had to settle for a one point having failed to hold on to a one-goal lead.

Austria then remained on the good course by winning away to Moldova on Thursday and they now have a perfect chance to all but eliminate Montenegro from the race for the top three positions.

Seeing as how the hosts are in much better shape than their opponents, there appears to be value in odds of 2.15 (23/20) offered on home win.

Striker Mark Janko is banned after seeing red in Moldova, while defender Aleksandar Dragovic us also suspended, but Martin Harnik and Martin Hinteregger should returns to the starting line-up.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Almer – Klein, Hinteregger, Prodl, Fuchs – Baumgartlinger, Alaba – Harnik, Junuzovic, Arnautovic – Okotie.

Montenegro largely impressed in their first ever 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign, having come close to reaching the play-offs, only to suffer a heavy defeat in the key qualifier against Ukraine.

The team have since recorded mixed results in international friendlies, but they hoped to mount a serious challenge for a place at the Euro 2016 finals.

Things started well for Branko Brnovic’s side as they recorded a 2-0 home win over Moldova in the opening fixture, but Thursday’s stalemate with minnows Liechtenstein has seriously damaged their chances.

Even with the coach resting a number of star players, Momtenegro largely dominated the game and created a host of clear-cut chances, but they just couldn’t convert any of them.

The only way the Brave Falcons can make amends is by winning in Austria, and they are 3.80 (14/5) to succeed in their quest.

While Nikola Drincic is the only player who missed out on the squad through injury, coach Branko Brnovic has absolutely no selection worries at the moment.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Poleksic – Savic, Simic, Basa, V. Bozovic – Vukcevic, Zverotic, Nikolic, Volkov – Jovetic, Vucinic.
