Daryl Janmaat out of Netherlands’ Euro 2016 qualifiers

Daryl JanmaatNewcastle full-back Daryl Janmaat has pulled out of Netherlands squad for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Iceland.

The 25-year-old played the entire game at the weekend as the Magpies held Swansea to a 2-2 draw, but he has made himself unavailable for international duty because of a hamstring injury.

Netherlands boss Guus Hiddink has called Augsburg defender Paul Verhaegh as a replacement, with Gregory van der Wiel expected to start at right-back.

Rafael van der Vaart has been recalled after missing the 2014 World Cup, while Dirk Kuyt has decided to retire from international duty.

Spartak Moscow hotshot Quincy Promes also returns to the squad, while Ibrahim Afellay keeps his place in the side.

Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar misses out through injury, but Celtic starlet Virgil van Dijk will be hoping to make his first appearance for Oranje.

Netherlands host Kazakhstan on Friday hoping to make amends for the opening defeat to Czech Republic, and they are 1.67 (2/3) to win by three goals or more.
